Arthur Kent was once a household name along time ago. 1n 1991, as a young dashing war correspondent for NBC News, he was on a rooftop in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia during the first Persian Gulf War. At the time, Saddam's Army had enough wherewithal to fire off a few scud missiles at US troops based in Saudi Arabia after the US invaded Kuwait. Kent was lucky enough to be there to report live to the world, as it happened.

In an instant, Arthur Kent became a celebrity. The "scud stud" was on television sets around America and across the world. The media attention and the proverbial "15 minutes" of fame came Kent's way, from fan clubs to "Saturday Night Live". Kent would soon be tapped by NBC News to front its new magazine show, Dateline. He also was brought in to try his hand at the "Today Show" long before we ever met Katie Couric and friends.

This would be the beginning of the end for Kent at NBC. He would later have a fall from grace at NBC News, after the network fired him. In a bitter lawsuit against NBC that ensued, Kent would ultimately prevail winning a fat financial payout and an apology from the Peacock Network. He took his money and went elsewhere and wrote a book about it.

Since his network news days Kent's profile has not been so visible. He's been producing, reporting and hosting various TV, film, print and online projects of his own and with others in the US and Canada.

Kent even had a stint hosting and producing programs with The History Channel. ERS News co-founder Eric Longabardi conceived and co-produced a 2-hour primetime documentary program on The History Channel with Mr. Kent in 2001 dubbed "America's Lost Bombs: The True Story of Broken Arrrows". The program was an exhaustive investigative look at secret history of America's nuclear weapons accidents.

Fast forward to 2007. Kent (the Scud Stud) has now decided to remake himself as a politician. Kent recently announced he had decided to seek office in his native Canadian province of Alberta as the Progressive Conservative's candidate. You can view Kent's candidate political website here: touting his new remade image as a politician. Kent's site heavily touts his journalistic past.

The outcome of Kent's new political career is yet to be written. If Kent's journalistic past is any indication of his political future, it should be less than mundane or uneventful for sure. If Jesse "The Body" Ventura can be elected Governor of Minnesota, stranger things have happened up in the colder regions of North America, we'll just have to wait and see what happens to the former Scud Stud.
