A MESSY MEDIA-BREAK UP

WASHINGTON POST POLITICAL COLUMINIST:

This is a story that by most accounts anyone would call a real mess.  Andres Martinez is a journalist. He is a well-respected one it seems from his work history and credentials.  Currently he is a columnist for the Washington Post and a fellow at the “New American Foundation“ in Washington D.C.

His column “Stumped” runs twice weekly in the Washington Post.  It covers the world of politics.  Martinez was an opinion editor for the Los Angeles Times prior to that.  His relationship with Kelly Mullens came to an end recently.  Mullens is a Los Angeles based entertainment publicist.

The rest of the story we will let others tell you – it’s complicated.  The Hollywood Reporter broke the story yesterday on it's blog. Daily Variety as well had the story yesterday. Martinez has filed suit against his former girlfriend in Los Angeles, LAObserved, a well-known media blog in Los Angeles also had the usual tidbits about what others news outlets were already reporting.  The LA Times (Martinez former employer) followed and ran its first story trailing all the rest.

This is one of those media “madness” stories we are going to just let you figure out for yourself.   The twist and turns will keep you busy for a while.

ERS obtained the 14-day “Temporary Protective Order” that was issued by a Washington D.C. court in April of this year against Martinez.  The order itself and “The Petition and Affidavit for Civil Protection” are below you to take a look.
