(September 14th, 2007 5:00PM PST) BY ERIC LONGABARDI Las Vegas police have named OJ Simpson as a suspect in an alleged armed robbery which took place last night. The incident, according to police had Simpson and an undetermined number other men entering a Palace Station hotel room demanding various Simpson related memorabilia items be given back to Simpson. Alfred Beardsley, the collector of Simpson memorabilia who was in the room at the time according to published reports, was in possession of the Simpson related items, he told police that some of the men had weapons. The men, including Simpson then took the items. Police reported they are still seeking the men who accompanied Simpson into the room, but their whereabouts are still unknown. Some of the items taken were recovered according to police, other are still being sought. Las Vegas police today said their investigation is in its “infancy” and that although Simpson was questioned by detectives, he was cooperating with police and was not arrested and is free to leave Las Vegas if he so chooses.
ERS News can report exclusively that Beardlsey, a well known player in the Simpson saga has previously been ordered by a LA Superior court to turn over Simpson collectibles in his possession to Fred Goldman’s attorneys. The order to do so was to help satisfy the 33.5 million dollar civil judgment Simpson was ordered to pay when he was found liable for the wrongful death of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Peter Csato, the Los Angleles attorney in that case, when contacted by ERS today refused comment on the case. Another player in the incident is Thomas Riccio, a man who according to Las Vegas FOX TV station KVVU was in the room at the time of the incident. Riccio is a well known dealer of collectibles based in Southern California. Riccio has a long past association with Simpson and in the sports collectible business, even promoting autograph sessions by Simpson in recent years, like this one in Los Angeles in 2004.
