Elmer Dills was a very interesting man.  He went from a career in the CIA to a decade’s long career as a TV, radio and internet restaurant and travel critic here in Los Angeles.  His restaurant and travel reviews were part of growing up in Southern California for decades in Los Angeles.  If Elmer said it was good, you knew it was.

His style and wit were a throwback to a different age, when civility and grace were the standard.  His reviews made restaurant owners and chefs happy and sometimes sad, but they were always good natured and fair.

Elmer retired from KABC-TV two years ago, but maintained a presence on radio and embraced the internet until late 2007.  His colleagues at KABC-TV, his TV home for decades paid their respects with this classy tribute today by his former colleague Ric Romero.

Dills is survived by his wife and four children.
