Apple adds 'Explicit' Category (Update)

According to Gizmodo, the 'Explicit' app category has now been removed from the App Store submission page.  It was added at some point last night and the thought was that, it would be a new category above and beyond the 17+ rating.

Just days after Apple removed over 5000 "overtly sexual" applications from the App Store, the company appears to have taken a curious turn that could result in the reinstatement of many of these applications.

Cult of Mac reports and MacRumors has confirmed that Apple has added a new "Explicit" category in the iTunes Connect system for App Store submissions. The category is included in drop-down menus that allow developers to select categories for their applications to be placed in, and appears alongside the traditional App Store categories such as "Books", "Entertainment", and "Games".

Using Deserts To Power The World

solarenergy-sahara

The DESERTEC Concept aims to confront global challenges such as climate change, population growth beyond earth’s capacity, and an increase in demand for energy and water. Describing the concept in a Red Paper, the DESERTEC Foundation describes how the sun offers the best solution because within six hours, the world‘s deserts receive more energy than all the people in the world consume in a year. One questions arises from this statement: “how can this radiant energy be economically transformed into useful energy and transported to consumers?“
